About

I created this blog for two reasons. First, I wanted a one-stop-shop for my family and friends to hear about my adventures, thoughts, and daily life in the Peace Corps. Second, I wanted to chronicle my experiences so I can look back at them when my service is over. Here is a little more information about my Peace Corps assignment.

Country: Ghana

Duration: February 2012 – April 2014

Program: Health/Water and Sanitation

Job Title: Health/Water and Sanitation Educator

Description: At this point I don’t know exactly what I’ll be doing or where I’ll be living in Ghana. My invitation packet claims my work as Volunteer will complement the health, water, and sanitation initiatives of various government and non-governmental organizations within a particular district. My work could include establishing Water and Sanitation Committees, implementing health and hygiene education, teaching about HIV/AIDs, promoting and improving water sanitation facilites, and more.

Hello there! I have recently accepted my invitation to serve in Ghana Feb 2014 in the Health Education. I was doing some research and I stumbled upon your blog! Any chance I’d be able to connect with you? I have so many questions!

Sure, feel free to email me at jamico7 at gmail.

Congrats on the invitation! In short, don’t stress and enjoy your remaining time in the U.S. by eating your favorite foods and spending as much time as possible with friends and family. The Peace Corps does a good job of getting you adjusted to Ghana during training. Plus you can buy almost everything you need in Ghana.

    Hi Ryan,
I would have to say that although your life in Ghana may be mundane, I’m sure that it’s never boring. I love keeping up with you. May the Lord bless you in all of your endeavors in your remaining time there.
